Booking.com dangled a great deal at the historic Pousada Bragança, and so I decided to make it a short day and take care of some business from the comforts of a fancy hotel.
Oh my stars. This Pousada features not only great views, a round pool, and stately mid-century modern rooms, but also a Michelin-starred restaurant. The four-hour dinner with as many glasses of wine was one of the top three meals I've had in my life.
Having not drunk alcohol in months, I must admit I awoke with a hangover. Coupled with high thread-count sheets, my state convinced me to take a zero day in Bragança. A steep walk into town uncovered a chestnut shop, whose hilarious saleswoman I interviewed for my book after she invited me, with a flourish, to visit the chestnut museum downstairs.
Wonders abound in this town

Enjoying your trip blogs and photos. What it must be like to have not minutes but hours and days for pondering while wondering. Hmmmm. Cousin Ed
This menu is much improved from the gas station food you had! Enjoy!
