No ride pictures today because of heavy rain. I must keep my phone dry and cozy. Indeed, my bike computer shorted out in this deluge. So much for waterproof gear.
At last, though, we had a tailwind, so we rather flew along the banks of the Danube. At one point where the river was as wide as a lake, dozens of small white feather islands were bobbing in the current. These were swans fishing for their breakfast. That's a picture I wish I had taken.
In my mind I have a parallel blog made up of all the pictures I wish I had taken and all the words I wish I had written. One life isn't enough.
We stopped at a funky log cabin complex with a restaurant and apartments for rent, called Nimrod. I've always enjoyed nimrodery, and this stop was no exception. We needed both bathrooms and all three bedrooms to hang and dry out our gear. The water smells strongly of sulphur, and the sprinklers came on in the rain.
