113. Almazán to Cintruénigo, Spain

August 2, 2024

Today I was hoping to make a lot of miles, as my route had a big chunk of downhill, and the heat wave was supposed to break. But alas, high winds replaced the hot, nasty breath of the devil, and so I spent all those downhill miles trying not to get blown into traffic. Indeed, I cut my ride 10 miles short when the windspeed hit 22 miles and trucks started swerving onto the shoulder, where I ride. With Howard's voice ringing in my ears, I let caution be the better part of valor and checked into the first hotel I could.

So hello from a random town in Navarre.

Distance: 65.76 miles

Total: 4,830 miles

That wind + trucks is a frightening combination. Glad you are staying safe!
