This morning, I managed to pry myself out of the bed and hit the road by 6:30 am, which meant that I had a whole morning of temperatures under 90 degrees. And it ain't even my birthday!
When I arrived in Almazán, I made a beeline for the supermarket. Although this is a small town, the market was incredibly well stocked, including with seitan, my plant-based protein of choice. For the first time on my trip, I ate enough protein. I can feel my muscles bulging.
But I don't think bulging muscles are the reason my bed just collapsed beneath me. Instead, the cheap frame, whose legs have been glued back on numerous times, just gave up the ghost. So I'll be sleeping on the floor tonight, because I'm just too tired to deal with hotel management in Spanish.
